can you use the water conditioner to reduce ammonia in the freshwater tank in case of emergency???

Well, if your water conditioner does detoxify ammonia, you could certainly do that.

However, you should notice that they do not reduce ammonia but only make it safe for fish. If you test for ammonia after using the conditioner you would get one of two possible results, depends on your test kit:
1. Salicylate reagents based test kits would show the same amount of ammonia as before as it's still present, although this has been detoxified.
2. Nessler reagents based test kits will show even higher levels of ammonia (if not off the scale completely). You would still have the same amount of ammonia (now detoxified) but those test kits are affected by the ammonia detoxifier to show false results.
