fishyhelper288![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fish Guru Posts: 2161 Kudos: 1951 Votes: 137 Registered: 29-Feb-2004 | i love your darter i have a johney darter myself, they do love to shoal, as i have witnessed in the wild, they are in groups up to 100, but those are mostly females, male are territorial, and i 10 gallon is not a home for 2 unsexed darters (as i found out ) they love blood worms and sand, and if u plan to breed, put like 10 in a 20 long with caves and anything they cn slipo under to perform the coartship, a male will stake out a territory, and gaurd it with his life, when a female comes along, he ill chase her away, if she is determined, she will swimm to him upside down, then, he will lead her in and they will spawn side-by-side several females will visit him, and hundreds of eggs can be layed by a single female(oh, and the fry are adorable ) so probly more info then u wanted/neded, but u deff have a species of darter![]() |
