10 black neons, they seem to act the same as when I had 6.
A while back I used to have about 20 glowlight tetras and they were much happier than when I only had 4.

I currently have 15 Barbs schooling in my 55 gal tank had up to 30 barbs at one time in my tank a few years ago. They are tiger barbs of the three common types: the tiger, green tiger, albino tiger plus I have a couple golden barbs as well and they all school together they are very fun to watch. I cant wait until I get my new tank this summer looking for a 150+ tank so I can have larger schools of barbs and more variety of barbs.

I have 16 Rosy Tetras right now. Largest school so far WAS 18 Cardinal Tetras, but they were a pretty bad bunch and all but 1 has died off after about 9 days. Unfortunately the one remains so I have to return him or get him some friends.

jase101,

Thanks for the compliment on the Espei,

Maybe you should sometime show us your 6 footer in the planted forum, I might just steal some ideas from you

Seriously, your description of it sounds very interesting.

And feel free to add a comment in my log, even if it is only to say that you like the Espei, and constructive criticism is also welcome.

About 35 Galaxias Olidus followed by 28 Galaxias Rostratus and around 20 Hypseleotris Galii.

I find that Galaxias become very nippy in small groups.

12 Cardinals, closely followed by 11 Panda Corys.

In the case of the Pandas, 10 of them are either survivors of the October disaster or replacements for losses bought at my LFS. One of them is a new baby however, and is now so cute.

i started this off in the tetra-talk forum, but i'd be interested to know about other species too - what's the biggest number of a single species you have?

and do you think the fish act differently in large numbers (that being if you've kept them in smaller numbers too...)

how big is the tank they live in?

i'm interested because in the last few years i've started letting some species die out (ie not replacing them when they die) and focusing on just two or three species. i really think they are a lot happier and a lot more interesting in large numbers. so my largest schools are 45 neons and 31 rummynoses. i have a six-foot, fully planted south american tank. the rummies are far more outgoing in larger numbers, and often do long laps back and forth at the front of the tank or swim in the filter current at the back. when they were in smaller numbers, both species often hid in the vegetation, but now they are definitely bolder and brighter.

and u?

10 harlequin rasboras in my 29 gallon tank. The platies are trying to give them a run for the money though....I have 6 adult and I have no idea how many fry...can't count 'em. The will be going to new homes though once they grow a little.

My harlies love swimming together and look great doing it.

10 pristella tetras. When I first got 4 they were really lonely and just sat in the one place all day. Now they look really pretty and school together pretty closely.

My largest schools of fish are as follows:
9 Cory Aeneus (in 25g)
7 Red Eye Tetra 7 Buenos Aires Tetra (in 75g)
and all these 14 fish school together most of the time.

yes- espescially with the corys I notice great difference in behaviour. I have several groups of 2-3 corys cuz of difficulty in locating more, and they act much more shy and skittish than the large group of aeneus corys.
