That ten gallon is (as you know) way overstocked. Plus, there are a lot of fish in there that need schools/shoals.

Why can't you get rid of any fish? If you removed the goldfish, the betta, and the tetras, you could keep the remainder of the fish in a 20 gallon, and give them schools/shoals.
Here is a stocking list:
2 swordtails (I'm iffy on them though, because they are so active)
6 bronze cories
2 cherry barbs (they do just fine in pairs)
6 scissor-tail rasboras

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

i cant get rid of them because, well, where am i gunna bring them?ther isnt a single fish store around here, she got the goldy, swords, (and the betta is mine) from walmart, the others she got from a fish store about an hour away, if i wanted, or even had the room i probly would take them and put them in my 30, but whats going in there is, my guppys, male sword ,plattys, 4 wcmm, and im gunna get some bottom feeder(s) i want to under stock it a little, the 10 i am currently using is going to hold a breeding colony of johney darters, another 10 im getting is going to hold fry, and the 15-20 im getting from my neighbor, is going to be a display tank, holding my best looking fish.

I would suggest at least a 20 gal for all those fish to be happy. And if you can do it, a 29 gal would be great, and you would even have room for more fish in the future.
