Its always good to leave the cover on, even for adults. I wouldn't take it off if i were you.

Well no offence to you, but in my opinion its best to have a cover on. Just because they are adults doesn't mean they don't need a cover. Its better for them to have warm air then cool drafts. Plus they can't jump out. If you don't want a cover then you go right ahead and not have one. But i make sure ALL my fish get covers on their tanks- and i've never had a problem with them.

is the new tank set up and ready to go? Bigger than the current tank?

A few hours without the humidity won't damage them at this age, they should be fine. But lids are a good idea at any age, it helps keep the water warm and helps mimic the humidity that would be in their natural environment

You can jar them now if you like, or you can wait until they are a bit older and starting to show traits of male and female.

sorry ontario, i was kinda not feeling weel that day, so sorry for the snapping, and i do agree that covers prevent the jumping, but only when i have a know jumper (jumps out of the water for food, jumped out before ect) do i cover them, i have only locst 2 fish from this, one a female that was my first female, and the other one, i was putting him in a 10 gallon, and got sidetracted before i could put the hood back on needles to say, he died before i could get him back in but all new bettas are started out with covers for the first month or 2 (currently have 2 new crowns with covers) but hmm, i realy want to jar them so i can wash out the tank for the next breeding pair, but i dont want to jeperdise them either, if i dont poke holes in the cover, but have them opened twice a day for food, would that work? or just move them to a diff 10 gallon with no cover?

you can remove the cover for feeding OR organise a mesh cover that is easy to remove, try gutterguard or plastic canvas or even net curtain or flycreen with tablecloth weights on the edges

Or you could use CDs, the opening in the middle is perfect for dropping in food.
