Hey, I have these little white things floating in my 29 that is set up w/out fish or plants. I added a piece of driftwood, but I had the white things b4. They seem to be light enough that they don't all settle, but some have on the driftwood, and glass. Can anyone tell what this is, and how to get rid of it? Here are some pics of them.

I did that before I put it in....and they were all ready in there b4 I put it in. Water changes don't seem to get rid of them either

When they settle on the surface of the wood or the glass, do they move? Then they are planaria in all likelihood.

If it appears to be a fine dust in the water that settles without moving, then it may be:
- something precipitating out of the water,
- bacterial or algae bloom.

They do not resemble planaria in anyway to me from looking at
the pictures. The precipitate idea could be plausible, but
precipitates usually settle and don't go floating around the
tank. In all probablity it is dust or something that was on
the siades and bottom of the tank before you filled it up.
Doing Water Changes may help reduce the number, as for
bacterial bloom, it may be possible though I do not believe
bacteria colinate like that during a bloom but istead just
give the water a hazy white appearance.

Megil

What have you added to the water? Like chemicals and such? Some additives can percipitate, and/or don't desolve all the way, especially if they are old. Like ph up/down, if old will percipitate. Some additives will just take longer to disolve. While others will react with water that is straight from the tap. IMO, it is some kind of percipitant, and not planaria.

Another thought, I see you have dark colored gravel. Some of the cheaper colored gravels, will peel their coloring off and cause this appearance. Did you rinse it good? Check the gravel over closely and see if it appears to be peeling or chipping.
