I've just begun raising the temperature a bit for the summer, and I dropped the pH a bit at the same time, so I'm not surprised. I've got: 6 Cherry Barbs 4 Zebra Loaches 2 SAEs 1 male Betta Its a 30 gallon tank that is heavily planted and typical numbers are: pH 6.0 (down from 6.5) GH 200 ppm KH 180 ppm I don't do water changes as often as I should, but otherwise the tank is very stable. Any ideas? |

Do you have any Snails?. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Zebra Loach "Breeding: Has not been accomplished in captivity." Breeding habit "unknown" for the SAE. And since I know bettas are bubblenest builders... I'm going to assume you have snail eggs unless there's other fish in the tank you haven't mentioned. Do you have pictures?~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

kitten![]() ![]() Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 ![]() | I suppose it could be possible, but I'm still betting on snail eggs. However, I don't believe loaches are known for laying eggs on the glass... snails are. After a quick look at the loach profiles here on FP, it seems that great care has to be taken to get breeding to happen with loaches. Some other loaches that have been bred - though rarely - indicate that the eggs would be laid in the gravel. *shrugs* I don't know if that indicates anything, as I'm sure two different species, though similar, can have vastly different breeding habits. I do have a few, although the loaches keep them in hiding most of the time ![]() Too bad. I was assuming this was a good indication that the conditions in my tank were perfect. Carl |
