The aquatic club at my school's setting up a 55 gallon. So far, there are 2 yellow tail damsels, clown, and some marine algae (all of which can be relocated to either a 10 or 29 gallon) I know nothing about salt water, so it's up to you.

So far, the club's deciding between lionfish, or lots of small fish. I personally prefer little fish because, as a freshmen, they said I'd have to clean the tank if there's a poisionous fish in there. I kinda like firefish, but that's all I know.

A 55 would be a bit small for many lions. It's also small for a lot of small fish. You could get 3 or 4 nice fish though. A royal gramma woudl look nice or other Basslet, perhaps a clown or two, or perhaps some Goby.
