Hey guys, can someone give me an ID on this snail I just found on the side of a zoanthid, which didn't look happy, and one next to that looks like 1/3 of it has been eaten.
Any ideas, should I leave it, or pull it out?

It's roughly 3-4mm long

I'm 90% sure that this is a Heliacus / Sundial snail.
I've removed him from the tank, some of the other zoanthids are closed in, so I'm going to keep an eye on them.

Looks more like a collonista snail to me. A mini turbo which is a harmless algae grazer.

A sundial snail will have different markings and a pointy operculum. Like this.

If your zoas are doing poorly, I'd recommend a dip with something like this. We've used it at the store with great success for treating acro eating nudis, and I'd think you might have zoa eating nudis if your zoas are rapidly disappearing. It's quite mild to the corals, they open back up within minutes after the dip for us. We get all sorts of other inverts to drop off the corals though. Nudis, amphipods, small pistol shrimp etc.

Look here for other zoa pest pictures and ID's.

Good luck figuring it all out. I hate coral pests. IMO hobbyists/wholesalers/retail should all do preventative dips when they get corals.

Some are, yeah. I've never had a problem with them or seen a problem with them. I think there might be different species or something.
