Well today was my first official day of classes and I am taking marine biology! I am so psyched! Well one of the parts of the class is that we are assigned a group and a fishtank. There are 8 nanocubes (12 gallon) in the lab, all have live rock, coral, some have anemones, etc. I am so excited since i have never really gotten a chance to experience salt water and i think this will be a great way to start! So the tanks are up and running with a few shrimp, crabs, and snails. But other than that there are no fish, that is our job! So we get to choose which fish to buy. Since the school will be supplying us the money, the price is quite limited. we get to go to an lfs (we have a relationship with an lfs) and pick our fish. Any suggestions?

I am so excited and hopefully this will be a great window into the world of salt water!

Any ideas? Suggestions? Since the cookie cutters are for bigger tanks and i am so new...

I am so excited!

i would say 1 clown,i would pick a clown because some of them like anemone in their diet and also the live rock would be somthing for them to hide near or behind.IMO a 12 gallon aquarium with all the things you listed shouldn't have too much room for a big load of fish. i may be wrong because i have yet to see ALL SW fishes as there are soo many different species. Good Luck with your class.

Well now it turns out we drew out of a hat the tank we got and we got the broken tank, without a working pump and everything dead in the tank. But then after class my teacher pulled me aside and let me know that he was buying a 24 gallon to replace it! I am so excited. I am pretty sure this will open my options up a great deal. I have to cycle the tank and everything so what is the normal schedule for cycling a tank? I am so happy!
