timmyus![]() Small Fry Posts: 1 Kudos: 1 Votes: 0 Registered: 24-Jan-2006 ![]() | I am new to marine and I only started about 3 months ago. I have a 75 gallon fish only tank which is stocked with 2 percula clowns 1 Blue damsel (previously 2 )1 Lionfish I got the lionfish about a week days ago without checking the profile to see that its a preditor and lost one of my damsel . I am contemplating of getting rid of it or maybe stocking my tank with compatible fish but I do not know what fish is compatible with the Murderer. does anyone have any experience with them or can anyone advise me of the best route to take. I am quite upset of my loss even tho its not a major one. Any imput will be appreciated. |

It seems you have learned (the hard way) the lesson about impulse buying... Like Dan said, Lionfish will eat almost anything they can put in their mouth. At work, I've seen them devour krill, silversides, guppies, grass shrimp, minnows, and more. Those were small ones. ![]() The general rule of thumb is dont stock them with anything they can put in their mouth, but if you keep them well fed, you run less of a risk of having them eat tankmates. Luckily, you lost a cheap fish. If you're going to be feeding him live foods, I'd culture your own. Try raising mollies or something for feeder foods. Lions are actually rather friendly, they just have a big appetite. I think they look good with triggers personally. Do a google search on compatible tank mates for lionfish, I'm sure you'll get lots of results.-Ferret [img src='/images/forums/halo.gif' border=0] -Formerly known as the Ferretfish ![]() |
