I added a Trigger a week ago, this Sunday it got velvet!! I went back and got their meds for inverts and reef setups, which killed my one polyp, and nearly the other one as well in one day. So I stop using it run the scimmer for a day and added Waterlife Maxzim, which I know works well for ick.
Now... I have read up a bit on velvet and wants to know what the general treatment for this would be in a reef setup with no HP tank. On the net they say drop the silinity to 1.015 quickly for 10-14 days, which is the live cycle for this pest! and use Coper... I think not...
The Trigger seems to be doing much better now all marks are very light, nearly gone, and all the other fish seems to be clean.
Anybody have had velvet or treatments for it? Would be nice to know all about it for future cases.

Try to keep the tank as stress free as possible. Upping the temp a slight amount may help as well.

Just an update.
Drop Silinity to 1.019, and temp to 28C. The meds (Waterlife Maxzim) helped quite a bit. All signs seems to have disapeared. So if anybody does get it in the future try the above mentioned. What I have read on it could be fatal to must setups.
