I have these "Things" in my tank and i have never heard of, read of or seen these things. The first pic looks like something from mars.

Does anyone know what these things are?
(ive got more pics if needed)

this is something else in my tank that ive never seen before. My only guess to wat it is, is its the beggining of corraline algae but i really dont know. This "stuff" looks like purple peach fuzz and it was tough to get a good pic do to its size.

does anyone know what this is too?

No the Neomeris sp. algae is not bad for the tank. It does however use calcium for growth, so if there is a lot of it then you might have problems with calcium upkeep. As long as you keep your levels in check (nutrients) then it should stay pretty much in one place.

You sure the 2nd fuzzy purple stuff isn't cyano? I have a couple spots of it still hanging around in my tank and I think if I took a slightly blurry pic it would look identical to that.

Liana, it is similar to halimeda as far as it using calcium and nutrients to grow. Its growth shape is totally different though, and doesnt branch out. It just grows like the picture shows.

Reef Inverts has some info on it Im sure www.algaebase.org does too
