Yes they need filtered water. You cannot keep them in a bowl. How big of a tank do you want to keep them in?

Definitely a filter, and yes to a light especially if there wouldn't be a heater.

I've kept fry in small unfiltered tanks but it wasn't for an extended period of time and I did daily water changes.

All fish should have a filter, regardless of the type or size. Tropical fish definately need a heater (how else can you guarantee consistant temps?
