Hi,

Guppies:
http://guppyplace.tripod.com/Facts.html

One Tablespoon/5 gallons of water, is the "recommended"
amount in most literature. Remember, if you have a
5 gallon tank with any gravel, you DON'T have 5 gallons
of water in the tank and one tablespoon would be too
much.

Actually the verdict is still out for using salt in
a livebearer tank. Some swear by it and othrs swear
at it. The water for them should be alkaline. Alkaline
water contains salts of minerals. Use marine salt, not
table salt. Especially, do not use iodized salt.

Hi,
Actually No. Guppies are much like humans in that while
the gestation period is a certain length, truma such as
the move from the dealers tanks to our tanks, can nudge
the process forward, and you could wind up with fry at
just about any time.

Temperature, quality/quantity of food plus stress can
prolong the fry or shorten the time.
