How can i easily tell the male from the female fry? I have head that i should be able to see the gravid spot, but theres so many of them!! When do the males start to develop their longer brighter tails?

You should be able to start seeing a difference between the males and females within a couple of weeks.

Hi,
You should be able to see a difference (thickening) in the anal fin of the male fry between 4-6 weeks. Check them everyday to see. You may need to catch them to see it because, as you know they are very fast and hard to see. Its been a while but I think the males tail starts to develop in about 6-8 weeks and should be fully developed by about 3 months.

it took about 5 months before i could tell i had a male, maybe even 2
