Both of them will eventually fail, causing your sump/fuge to flood if you lose power.....the best way is to not use one at all and just make sure that your sump has enough room left in it to compensate if you have a powerfailure.

If you really want to use a check valve, go to [link=http://www.marinedepot.com]http://www.marinedepot.com" style="COLOR: #FF0000[/link] and they have ones that come apart for regular cleanings

Thats not a no-no at all......How is your tank set up, any pictures, drawings of your plumbing? Is the tank reef ready, or are you using a HOB overflow?

Wow...I just realize I have two screennames, I don't know how I managed that. I wondered why sometimes I couldn't find the posts I made. Anyways...here is the link the post I made awhile ago...

http://fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Marine%20Setup/62325.html

The setup has changed a little bit but the idea is still the same. I guess the point of the setup is to combine a sump and closed loop.

I have the intake plumbing all complete and it works great in the trials I've completed. I want to add check valves and a couple ball valves to the return so I can clean the plumbing system when needed.

Any questions you have just ask. I know some of the drawings aren't very detailed. Thanks for your help!
