Lighting for my tank | |
dredd969 Fingerling Posts: 22 Kudos: 22 Votes: 4 Registered: 11-May-2005 | Acouple of months ago I started my first Salt tank. Its a 29 long. So far I have 20 lbs of live rock, 2 3 stripe dams, 2 yellow tail dams, and 1 bi-color angel. I was just wondering if the lighting I was going to get is good enough to start doing some coral and such. Its a Coralife 30" 2x65w with a 10,000k and a True Actinic blue lunar bulb. Thanks. |

IMO,Get rid of it if you want corals.Otherwise, yes that light would be fine for softies and LPS towards the top. Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

Reef tanks generally have a lower stocking level because many corals don't do well with higher bioloads. The angel may be a problem, and teh damsels will be rather aggressive. Not to mention nearly impossible to get out once start adding more rock for corals. You may want to consider a different stocking for the tank. Dan |
