This is my 29g that I gave my step-son to set up for convicts. I'm off work temporarily because of a knee injury so out of boredom I ended up taking down the old setup and redid the tank myself

The full-tank shot is cloudy because the water was still settling:

There were maybe 10 juveniles left at the lfs and I think I got the last female:

The male:

And the pair:

Both are pretty, but that girl has some interesting colors on her.

I agree with doedogg!

I wish the tank shot was clear. That looks like a really cool background! I thought cichlids dug plants up though? But maybe not convicts?

I guess it's hit or miss with cons. The taller plants are anacharis, which can grow as floaters if they dig them up. The smaller plants are Java fern growing on driftwood so there isn't much they can do to that except eat it

Thanks for the clear tank shot.

Congrats on the eggs! That was quick!

Are you going to save them?

I've always read they're easy to breed but I was surprised to find the eggs. They aren't large yet, the male is maybe 3".

The plan is to use the fry as feeders in the big tank

Congrats. The fish look great. The female does have nice color. Hopefully they will be good parents. Convicts are very interesting and fun to watch. The tank looks good as well. Nice work and I hope you get to feeling better and return to work.
