really nice. Hope your plants survive, mines did not but then again I don't think I used the right ones. Whats your stock consist of. Oh & yeah, you always need a bigger tank

Hi, i've used anubias and a small amount of java fern in there all attached to rocks so here's hoping they may survive for a little while.

I've got maingano, electric yellow, rusty, pindani, leleupi, brichardi, electric blue.

I was going to go just for the electric yellow and rusty but once I saw how many there were to choose from I just had to hve more of a variety.

So I see you have mixed the lakes. Many people frown against it I donot personally but the one thing to keep in mind are their diets. I know nothing about the tang diets and most malawi @ least the Mbuna are primarily vegetarian. SO bottom line is you might have to keep this in mind if you haven't already. You really have a nice setup though, I love the rocks. Can we get a few closeups of some of your guys?

Sidenote: is that a dresser the tank is sitting on? If it is, that thing must be pretty sturdy. I have a 20G long on mines & I don't think it could take anything bigger.

Yeah i did mix them ... but I was advised by the LFS that it wouldn't be a problem as long as I catered for all their dietary requirements.

The tank itself is on a buffet and dont go there with the weight, its the second one i've bought for this tank. The first cabinet it came with started bowing in the middle so i've made sure this one is really strong!

I've noticed that some people leave open spaces between their rockwork, is that necessary. The whole upper section of the tank, as you can see, is open.

Some close-ups of the fish ...

looking good & great shots. Like I said I know nothing bout the tangs so not sure what open space they require. For Malawi's, it's really not required for Mbuna. Unless you have some really aggressive guys, in which case it would help with establishing territories. You happen to not have this aspect to concern youself with. For the haps its preferred b/c they are open water swimmers but again you don't have this issue either, as your only hap is the electric blue. IMO, your rock setup is fine.

sidenote again: I was asking about the stand b/c i was concerned about the weight but seems as if you kept that in consideration. It looks good on their by the way.

They fish look great crush! I see all these cichlid tanks and I'm getting anxious to set mine up! Only a week or so more though.

The white rocks really make the fish's colors stand out. Very pretty!

Hey thanks Girliegirl, im so happy with them, they are very interesting fish to watch and now i'm thinking that maybe i should have put them in my 6ft instead.

The rocks are really white and clean looking but i know that its just matter of time before they change colour with algae.

Cant wait for you to get yours up and going, be sure to post some pics, looking forward to seeing it.

Thanks for the compliments ... I hope the anubias have an easier time in with the cichlids. I pulled them from my tropicals as the clown loaches were destroying them!

Gotta luv loaches

Edit: I just added a bristlenose to see if he would eat the brown algae thats started growing and overnight its practically gone.

Gorgeous! Almost makes me want to reconsider changing over my cichlid tank to a planted discus set-up. Almost.
