Original text was cut off at a rather unfortunate position

I don't understand the compatibility issues... I've kept female bettas with angelfish and guppies with no problems.

I've also heard of males being kept with these species as well, though I've never done it.

The problem is the Betta will see the tails and assume its another beta and attack it in the case of guppies, anything fancy that resembles the tail of a Betta will cause aggression. Now remember that all fish have there own temperament yours may have been just extremely docile. This is a generality so people are aware of the possible incompatibility.

I've heard of males being aggressive towards guppies, but what about the females? I've never had aggression issues with female bettas and guppies, and I've kept them together many times.

Also, I've never had a problem with angelfish and bettas of any gender. The fins of the cichlid, while admittedly ounced, are not flowing or colorful. Also, due to the sheer differences in shape between angelfish and bettas, it is unlikely that a betta would ever mistake an angelfish for another betta.

The original cut-off text said, in part:

"Do not keep bettas with other fish that may nip their fins, as their long flowing fins are often targets for this sort of behaviour."

I have kept a betta (male) with an angelfish without problems, though it was for a short period. I would prefer the original version of this text.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
