In my experience this species is very aggressive, even in large tanks. Pretty much the only time they are peaceful is when they are kept in schools of ten or more in extremely large tanks (700+ gallons), but there isn't even any mention of schooling behavior in your description. They are indeed a schooling fish, but the fact that a huge tank is needed for ten foot-long fish causes them to be kept as single specimens by most people (and single specimens are usually highly-aggressive).
