Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | Okay, I guess I never paid attention to the profile here... but I've never seen any other mention of java fern being poisonous...generally inedible, yes, but poisonous, no. In fact, I've seen several mentions of fish eating the plant, even though they are supposedly inedible. I'm curious as to what type of java fern you have that it turns brown/purple. I've seen a green so dark it almost appears black, but never any brown besides dead leaves. I always like the contrast between dark green mature leaves and light green younger leaves. ~Meow.
