Though the original sizes are incorrect, so are the proposed ones. Scleromystax barbatus does not reach 10.5 cm in length, and males actually grow equal to the females in length, if not longer.

The maximum size for S. barbatus females is 10cm and males around 9.5 - 9.8cm.
