This is actually for saltwater aquariums but the building of the aquarium shouldn't be any different from freshwater.http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/aquariumdiy/a/aa120897diyaq.htm Here's instructions for big half plywood tanks http://saltaquarium.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=saltaquarium&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.athiel.com%2Flib6%2Ftank.htm I can't find any of my links on acrylic aquariums. Try searching in google for DIY aquariums, DIY acryic aquariums, plywood tanks and versions of those depending on what exactly you want to build. |

I am just trying to weigh the cost up of building my own 6ftx2ftx2ft tank with hoods (plus lights) and cabinet as compared to buying one. Dont know what to do. Cost is an issue. the earlybird gets the worm.... but the second mouse gets the cheese... |

Atleast that way you'll have a guarantee if it starts to leak and it will be replaced. That is something you wont have if you build it yourself. 6x2x2 is a big tank to try and build but good luck if you decide to go ahead. Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |
