Basically the issues mentioned where: - Inconsistent Carbon production as the unit ages - Too expensive for what it does - Will not work on larger tanks, except if you get multiple units (plus then also the issues mentioned above) Hope I remembered this right, Ingo |

It's made in Germany and I got it from Dr.Foster&Smith. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=4610&N=2004+113779 It does a great job of creating a steady stream of fine CO2 bubbles. My 72 gallon tank has been holding at 10ppm CO2 and pH 7.2. The unit it pretty much max'd out at this size tank. The Zac unit also has a side-effect of attracting calcium deposits on its me The only down side (at least for this unit) is the cost of the carbon block refills. I've had it since October and I'm into my 3rd block. At $40 US apiece, that's a bit costly. They would probably last longer in a smaller tank. I do plan to move to canister injection for the 72g (and larger when it's time to upgrade the tank :-) For a smaller tank, the electrolysis process is a good, simple way to go. I also recommend putting it on a timer (perhaps the same timer already in place for lighting?) to extend the life of the carbon. I did this on my 3rd block and it has already outlasted the others. The CO2 levels haven't changed since the gas probably went to waste at night anyway. Gary |
