ok so I empty and dried my bayfront tank because it sprung a leak, probably from it being very old and drying out so many times (through its various owners). So i scraped away all of the old stuff and began my application of new when the tub blew out of the back so I could no longer squeeze like the directions say to, so I use my fingers as best as I could but there are like spots where the silicone is not supposed to be and I tried to razor it away but the sazor isnt getting close enough and if i press much harder the glass will scratch....

How do i get this "residue" off?

also its holding water so the seals are all still intact after my razoring...

Thanks,
-Brandon

Hi,
In many decades of scraping aquarium glass with a razor
blade, the only time I've ever scratched the glass was if
there was a burr on the blade, or if I'd used the corner
point of the blade.

Now that you have resealed the tank, allowed it to cure
long enough, and then refilled it. You could drain it
again, wipe the glass down to dry it, and then use a
solvent to either remove the excess silicone or to
soften the excess silicone so that the razor blade
will remove the excess.

Oh ok. Thanks. The tank cured three days and I filled it.

It holds water well and etc. I just have to get those pesky smears and etc off as to help the aesthetic appeal of the tank.

I still have to paint the seals and build a hood, but hopefully my efforts to revamp this tank end with a great success.
