How old is the filter itself. Most seals will start to leak over time and like everything else is should be maintained and replaced from time to time. When cleaning your filter be extra careful not to pinch the seal as will as this can cause an air leak.

If you can I would replace all the seals also check any joints from the canister to the outlet point.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

ok the filter is about,3-4 years old, would this be affecting its performance because its no longer air tight, its still feals strong, and my water is clear, but there is definently something wrong/wornout or whateva.

It may run for now but there's a very high chance of it starting to leak. Especially if the power goes out and the bad seal is on the main cannister. Water will run back down the tubes, fill the cannister, and depending how large the leak is potentially drain your entire tank. It will at least make your floor a little wet. Best to fix it now while it's small and before anything worse happens.
