Could this be a problem with the "swim bladder" (is that what it's called?) This betta is swimming upside down, sideways, etc. totally disorientated. He's in a 10 gallon tank with 3 glowlight tetras and 3 zebra danios. Will he get better or die from this? (if indeed it is a swim bladder problem?)

Hmm, do you know if the tank is cycled?

I ran the filter that I'm using on this tank on my cycled 27 gallon tank for 2 weeks, and used water from that tank also to start this tank, and I'm using New Improved Cycle. I figured it would be healthier in this tank than in the bowl it was in...and the other fish in the tank are healthy...

If it is swim bladder, your fish will die.

Does he look bloated at all? With the body shape of a Betta it's fairly easy to see if there's any sort of swelling. If there isn't any then there's a decent chance it's not swimbladder.

I've experienced symptoms similar to what your describing in 2 of my Bettas, one about 6 months ago whi I unfortunatly lost & one just this week who is doing great .

The only thing i can attribute the recent one to is something in my water supply (which has been somewhat iffy latley). I treated him by switching him over to bottled spring water with .5 teaspoons of FW aquarium salt per gallon (which i do anyway) and melafix just for good measure.

I'd be inclined to move him into a separate tank & treat him there.

hth
