Alright, so borderline ready to give up this whole fish fiasco. I've got fish in my 29 flashing all over with no visible signs of anything (was treating for ich using coppersafe but found out that woops my dechlorinator took out metals, lucky me, so I'm starting that over). In my 10 gallon I've got guppies with stringy poo that everyone tells me is internal parasites which means that my cute little zebra loaches probably have them too. And now, my betta in his own tank is sprinkled with white, only on his fins not his body. Is this ich? We treated him with quick cure for the recommended three days but this hasn't done a thing. He just wedges himself on the bottom and looks miserable. What is this and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance!

I use Melafix and permafix and they both seem to work wonders. Also, sometimes ich is not cured in the time the bottle says, give it a little more time and add some salt to the water.

Because of the Ich life cycle, you can only cure it with longer terms of treatment than the typical medicine bottle will claim. At higher temperatures (say, 75+) the Ich life cycle is around four to seven days, and the parasite is only vulnerable to medications for a small part of that time (when it's swimming around looking for a host), so you need to keep the tank medicated for a long period.
