That way you save yourself a trip to the store and your fish a couple of hours. |

I live about 1 1/2 hours from the nearest LFS so a quick trip is not usually possible. Steph ~ Mae West |

Keep in mind that melafix is only for minor injuries, and the healing process...no matter what the lable says it's not a medication for something like finrot or fungus. Ich meds are good to keep on hand, depending on what fish I'd suggest maracide as it's also good for other conditions. ^_^ ![]() Current [link=Contest Rules]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/44382.html?200412022138" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] ![]() |

Carefully watch your new trop purchases in the store tank. Try to pick only the healthiest looking and make sure to acclimate correctly to your tank water pH. --garyroland. |

Dependency on meds becomes a fact of life unless you study and learn right at the outset what not to do. --garyroland. |

Babelfish, what troubles does it cause? I've always heard it's good stuff, and I use it a lot after netting fish. I'd like to know if I'm endangering my fish! ![]() -Dennis |

My biggest issue with it however is the aloe that is used in it. Pure aloe is a very thick substance, which is great for human skin, but adding it to the tank makes me think the fish will feel like they're swimming thru gelatin. Additionally since it is a natural plant substance it does break down like all dead plant substances and may cause an increase in ammonia. I might be alone in this, and quite possibly neither of the issues I've raised are as serious as I think they are, but having lost one fish after its use I've never wanted to use the stuff again. Granted the fish was ill and on its way out, but it seemed okay when I added the stuff ![]() ^_^ ![]() Current [link=Contest Rules]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/44382.html?200412022138" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] ![]() |

I have a difficult time believing that aloe sticks to trops and adds to slime coat protection. I like the claims but doubt the effect. --garyroland. |
