I noticed a couple of days ago my female peacock has a sunken in stomach so when feeding time came around i watched to see if she would eat.. she swam to the food sniffed at it and swam away.. the next day i tried some different food and still nothing... shes not pregnant as there are no signs of that (after 3 lots of fry you pick up on the initial signs.... at least i hope so!) and there are no marks or signs of a disease...
does anyone have any ideas as to why? or what i can do to help? will try to get water parameters asap...

thanks

wow, that's a toughie. Was the fish beaten up? If you can't see anything physically, it could be internal parasites.

I've got a fever... and the only prescription... is more cowbell!

i think it may be slightly traumatised by the male who is looking to mate ... she did manage a few flakes this morning which i was really happy about!

ill keep an eye on her just to make sure!

thanks@

good news hearing she's eating again. If the male is still harassing her, you may want to remove him to a different tank so she can relax for a while. If she has some ripped fins, melafix will help. Pimafix will help take care of baterial and fungal issues. If she stops eating or doesnt get any better, you may want to treat for internal parasites. Make sure to keep up with water changes. You also may want to give her some treats to entice eating, like black worms. Keep us informed!

i did try starting a fry tank but it just didnt happen! the HOB filter i had running on it didnt seem to filter the water very well so i just figured id keep them in breeding nets until they're big enough to be released into the tank.. a fry tank would be more beneficial as it gives them the room to grow faster but i dont really have the money for a new filter and space for another tank!

you don't need an expensive filter for fry, i have 3 2ft fry tanks all running off of undergravel filters ($8AU). people dissagree with having gravel in fry tanks but it works well for me with 50%water changes weekly i've grown out and sold 100's of fry.

if you dont like UGF then go for sponge filters which cost all of about $2 if you find a good store.
