I have 2 clowns, one seems really healthy, always has a full belly and always moving around. Then the other one seems to be sluggish, skinny, his color looks great, but i never see him eat or atleast hunt. I can't figure out whats wrong. My water was tested and my ph is 7.0, my ammonia is 0 and my nitrites and nitrates are perferct. I have 2 emperor 400's, plenty of cover for both of them to hide, i always turn the lights off after 10-12 hours of being on. As of right now they are being fed with baby firemouth fish (from my last tankmates) and I have pellets but nothing ever eats those so I don't feed them those anymore. Any idea on whats going on? He/she just seems sluggish. Oh and they never fight, if anything they just dance around eachother and then go do their own thing. Any ideas?

What's does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet, if it's long white and stingy that's an indication of internal parasites.

When are your feeding them. These fish are mostly nocturnal, and maybe the sluggish one is just not ready to start feeding in the day time. It could take some time for it to learn to eat during the day.

On another note, it is rare that these fish will eat pellets. Sometimes as smaller fish, but as they get larger, they will stop eating it. As long as you are feeding them live foods, they will never eat pellets, or any prepared foods. Try some other foods for them, maybe the sluggish one just does not like the size or taste of those fry you have now. Not knowing the size of your fish, try some red worms, or blood worms, or some black worms. All of these are highly nutritios, and should entice the fish to eat.

On another note, two fish of the same sex, will eventually fight, and sometimes opposite sexes will as well. They don't usually like the company of each other when they get larger, though it has been done. If keeping them together, it has been suggested to keep 3-5 of them, as they do not conflict as much.

HTH....

I feed them at night and they normally will go out and hunt at night as well. I have a bunch of baby firemouths in there right now that the one clown knife loves but I guess the other does not. I have some bloodworms so I will try that. Also there are a couple guppies in there too but I have not seen him eat those yet either. He/she deffiently moves around at night because I can catch them swimming around if I flip on the light real fast. But he/she just looks so skinny that I know its not eating. I will try some bloodworms tonight and see where that goes.
