Tank has 3 adult Brichardi and 10 juveniles, also did have 2 petricola.

Today I spotted one of the petricola wedged behind the filter intake tube. I fished it out and found that it is dead and has a REALLY swollen stomach. No other symptoms on it, just the deadness and the swelling.

Tank has been set up since April
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 10
Temp = 77
pH = 8
GH = 8
dKH = 6

Any ideas?
Thanks
Debbie

Could be swim bladder or dropsy that caused the death of the fish, sorry for your loss.

What can cause swim bladder problems?

I would have thought that if there was anything nasty going on in the water it would have got to the baby brichardis first?

I'm really confused...

Sometimes swelling or bloating can occur in fish after death, I don't think it's a big cause to worry unless you notice other fish swelling.

Could have been a natural death or, since it was wedged behind the filter tube, that could be the cause. (Fish get stuck; Its happened to me before.)

It is a normal thing in all animals. As the foods that are still in the animal when it dies start rotting and build up gas within the animal.. And, as there is no active motility within the animals bowels, the rotting foods and gasses cannot escape.

If there is one-sided swelling while the fish is still alive, and if it is towards the back half, it can signal a swollen kidney or tumor. Dropsy usually presents itself as a more uniform swelling overall, or bloated gut, but it looks the same from side to side from what I've seen. Bettas who get dropsy, can balloon out.

If Post-mortem - I agree with Acidrain.

Just curious, did you notice pinconing of the scales like these pics:
