He is still alive, swimming barely, but does not look good, he has no signs of illness that i can see. Please reply ASAP. |

I was just wondering if the fish could have had a vessel leak of some kind. I was wondering if this could have been a genetic disorder such as a clotting problem, or if it was cause by some sort of infection. If it is a genetic disorder, then I'm in trouble, because all of my fish are from the same parents. |

Tank mates? Are they acting OK? When was the last time you did a water change? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH? Are the gills moving very fast? EDIT: We posted at the same time. Sorry to hear that he died. It could be something internal, not visible to you. You should check your water parameters just to make sure. Are they acting OK?- All fish have normal behavior, including him when he died. When was the last time you did a water change?- 20% 4 days ago Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH?- Don't have test kits, but I have been using the same water for a year with no problems. Are the gills moving very fast?- There was little gill movement at all in him, but all of the other seem normal. |

The author said he believes it is a combination of protozoan and a bacterial/fungal infection. It only affects guppies. He treated it with Quick Cure and triple sulfa. That's all I know, and there is no way of knowing that what happened to your guppy was guppy disease. Many fancies are just plain delicate because of thier breeding. Breed for color than hardiness. It could be just a fluke. I still recommend getting a test kit. Just keep a good eye out on your tank for a little while. [span class="edited"][Edited by solublefish 2004-09-03 18:18][/span] |
