He has been growing alot lately (just put him in a 29 gal tank). He is still very active, eating normaly, and chasing the female veiltail around A LOT! I am not sure if this is normal or if he has something like fin rot. Also the scale area that they are missing from is just white, no red color or anything (which I am told is how you tell if it is fin rot). I do not know the numbers for the water. The tank has been set up for 4 weeks today and is currently cycling. The water is not flowing through the filter like normal, however, I am have been told not to change the filter until the tank is done cycling. There are two "filter" things that go in the filter. One is the regualr filter and one is a courser filter. Any ideas/concerns about what my common goldfish may have? Last edited by $horty at 13-Feb-2005 12:46 |

You have to remember that comon goldfish are carp, they're very active fish. Your fish is likely swimming and crashing into something since it's in a much too small tank and in the process cracking and breaking scales. Besides the stunting factor this is the other big reason why goldfish need to be kept in ponds and not in tanks. They're active fish and need the room to swim without running into things. ^_^ [hr width='40%'] I need to calculate, what creates my own madness... and I am waiting for disaster" ![]() |
