Did you use enough dechlorinator? If you didn't there's still chlorine there. Chlorine HURTS and the fish will try to swim away from it, but it can't in a tank.

Ihavesomefish; chances are, if you do not return the Loach to the LFS, its a death sentence. Doing water changes does help but prolongs the cycling process, your first error was trying to cycle a tank (a day after filling I might add) with fish you obviously have not researched about.

I research the devil out of fish before I even consider purchasing. Did you know that a Clown Loach can grow over a foot?

If its not too late, return it to the LFS and cycle your tank with guppies or Zebra Danios.

I agree with Week End; it doesn't seem as if you've really researched the fish thing enough. You should know that dechlorinator is very important to add to your tank with any new water, and you should have a heater for your tank already. Also, from your other threads, your clown loach will definitely not fit into a 25 gallon tank. They need schools, and a school of them cannot even be kept in a 55 gallon, maybe bigger! You really need to reconsider if you are ready for fishkeeping yet.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

....its your responsibility to do research and take care of your pet....LFS isn't a library....you can't expect employees to explain bits and pieces for you with an hour or something like just for you....

Best advice is to trade all your fish back now and do some reseaches yourself then start again

Although I've never kept clown loaches, my understanding is that they're a bit sensitive, and not the best fish with which to cycle a tank with. Platys can deal with it, though.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I think I know why the guy was giving me crappy directions. Its a stretch but; I think he's trying to get all my fish dead so eventually I'll have to get more and more fish. My LFS is a Familly owned business.

If you keep the tank as it is some fish may die, or get sick. Turn off the lights around the tank to help the fish calm down. Is there a heater or not? If there's no heater in the tank, turn on a heater in the room to keep the room at a warm stable temperature, about 25 degrees celcius.

Don't feed the fish today. Just keep them in the dark to help them calm down. Work out what you need to do tomorrow. There are a lot of people on these boards who will give you a lot of advice, and teh best thing you can do is research.

add the amount of dechlorinator needed to dechlorinate the water you added
Pour cup with dechlorinator into tank

I use dechlorinator when I first topped of my tank but when i replaced the water i didn't use any dechlorinator. I fear this is why my Loach and Platy are going crazy. Have any suggestions?

You got advice: get him out of there! At the very least, do the equivalent: lots and lots and lots of water changes, and don't skimp on the dechlorinator!

OK he definatly looks like hes might be dieing so any fast help would greatly be appriciated! He can barely swim. He'll swim for about 5 sec then stops and lay on a rock or the gravel.
