For the last two weeks and I stress only at night time from about 4pm onwards he lies on his side at the top of the tank and just floats. During the day he swims around normally, interacts with the other two fish and eats. He even greets us when we walk past the tank. They are all fed the same - water fleas a couple of times a week. Frozen mixed fancy goldfish food (has blood worms in it, vegetables etc, and floating / slowly sinking pellets.) They have had this food since November. I thought at first a swim bladder issue so upped the live food to help any blockages. We then thought it might be a case of too much trapped air inside him (if thats possible), so we have turned down the flow rate. As we thought that it could be he was swimming all day in a fastish flow rate but as he is so much smaller than the other two he was getting worn out and hence the floating at night time. I stress that the floating is only at night time. And when he sees you looking he rights himself and greets you. He is either unwell or weird. |
