ARTIMIA SALINA
I don’t know if this is the real thing but it looks very much like this one.]]]
I have a problem with this thing because I have this in my pond and almost unnoticeable because they camouflage at the hornwort plants. And I got a lot of molly fry in there trying to hide from their parents and I find this species eating my poor little guys.]:|]:|]:| It looks like a mantice or shrimp, and are more visible during night time with the help of a flashlight. What is the possible way to eliminate this entire pest? Or can you suggest some medical treatment. Anyone has this experience please help?!

Your input will be much appreciated. Tnx n adv.

I think you probably have something like dragonfly or damselfly nymphs.

I doubt they are artemia (brine shrimp). They are completely harmless things, i'm often suprised that any manage to survive to adulthood at all!

If you can, catch one and get a photo, or give us a more detailed description. Also, the average temperature of your water

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

yeah, ther'es no way it's brine shrimp - they are pretty much at the bottom of the food chain!! i agree with a larvae of some description - dragonfly larvae are very common and would easily eat livebearer fry

Brine shrimp are saltwater animals anyway, hence the name brine shrimp. They cannot survive in freshwater ponds. I agree with the others that it is some sort of insect larvae, which are pretty much impossible to get rid of unless you can find something to eat them.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
