After a few days, i noticed that the entire length of it was covered in fungus (those white fluffy patches). I removed the bogwood and scrubbed the fungus off, then replaced it into the tank again, thinking nothing of it. Now the wierd thing is, none of the other bogwood pieces are affected, and what's more, all my guppies in the tank seem to be dying off one by one, day by day. However, NONE of the other fish in there are affected, which only includes all sorts of corys and 11 neons. The corys seem fine to me, always active, swimming up and down the sides of the tank. Could the bogwood contain something that kills guppies? And why not other fish too? Should i get get anti-fungus medicine to remove the fungus on the bogwood, and for over-all protection in my tank? |

The white fluffy stuff that you describe is actually compleatly common and harmless to the fish. I've had it show up on every single piece of driftwood I've ever added to a tank no matter what method of pre-treatment I'd used. The only issue I've ever had with it is if I scrubbed it off in the tank the filter of course managed to pick up the pieces that were removed slowing filter performance. ^_^ [hr width='40%'] It only hurts when I breathe" ![]() |

I immediately seperated him and treated him with meth blue. During the last water change, I added in some new rocks from a plant pot in my garden. I scrubbed it just using fresh water b4 adding them into the tank. Could this be the cause of my problems? if i really wanna keep the rocks in the tank, should i treat it in future? |

I'd remove the rocks and boil/bake just like you would do for a piece of driftwood. ^_^ [hr width='40%'] It only hurts when I breathe" ![]() |
