My cories have gone crazy again with the scrapes against decor in the aquarium. I've been through this before and I lost 3 cories, then I gave the remaining 3 a salt dip and it worked. But now I have tried the salt dips again and they didnt work so I put salt in the aquarium, because it seems my ottos may have the gill flukes also. Is there any type of meds for gill flukes and if so what would you reccomend?

"Parasite Clear" should do the job...

"CopperSafe" can be dosed if other meds are not available in Canada.

Salt baths, an old remedy that barely, if ever, worked, usually placed more stress on trops than it was worth.

I have also been using an anti-parasite food by jungle.

There are those "Jungle" fans who really like their products...

However, your trops have an external problem, not internal, thus an external-treating med is called for.

not only that, corys and ottos are generally salt SENSITIVE fish, and your salt dips and treatments are more than likely making it worse.

If you want a fluke med that really WORKS and is gentle on the fish and bio-filter, buy this

It is the MOST effective and gentle treatment for flukes out there. Also, it is inexpensive. Parasite clear tabs also contain Praziquantel, but also have a mixture of other stuff in there that is not so gentle and despite what the bottle says, WILL harm the bio-filter.

You can have it mail ordered to Canada, do a google search for places that ship to canada that sell it. Otherwise, if you know of any local Mom and Pop type Fish stores, ask them to special order it for you. Chain stores are only allowed to carry certain brands of producst, and in Canada that is usually HAGEN.

There are several meds that can affect the biological filter...

When dosing, always try and dose a bacteria starter to replace the damaged good bacteria.

A half dose of the med should be tried first and slowly increased from there if required.
