Ok, some of you may remember my posts about the female dwarf gourami picking on the male I have, and how that day last week the male wasn't really doing very good.
Well he hasn't gotten any better.
To make it worse, when I came into work yesterday their water was only 50 degrees!!!
I didn't think it would get that cold at work it never has before *we just had a unusual cold day for Maryland* none the less I got them a heater, so that's all good now.

But since last friday the male has just kinda been doing his tail stand, not breathing too often, but he can move when he wants to. Hasn't eaten, which is bad because he has never missed a meal before. The female is doing fine, acting normal.

Temp: 78
pH: 7.0
Ammonia: 0
NitrItes: 0
NitrAtes: 5
Whisper 10 Filter
Weekly 25% Water Changes
10 Gallon Tank

I see no visible abnormalities to indicate injury or illness. What can I do for this guy?

Angel, you say the tail is up? Is the head down and tail up near the surface?

If so, and since water quality values are good, he could have an infection.

What did you try last time? Did we consider internal parasites and possible bacterial infection?

Have you, at any time, used a product called Parasite Clear Tank Buddies? If not, you may want to try this, but make sure you see the ingredient Praziquantel in the ingredients.

I recalled seeing a paragraph about fish with the head down/tail up. It mentions bacterial infection, possibly brought on by internal parasites. It goes on to say that saving a fish with a bad infection may not be possible, but others likely need treatment.

I used Parasite Clear Tank Buddies to see if it would help my goldfish's swim bladder disorder when the fish were new. I did not see an ammonia or nitrite spike during treatment. However, I used only two days of treatment. With Praziquantel in the water, internal parasites should be shed within hours of it hitting the water.
