One of my electric yellows has a puffed out eye..think of one of those goggly eyed goldfish.. he was sort of like it when i got him but i didnt think much about it.. and now his eye is like rotting off!!
i noticed a couple of days ago it was like blistering and now it like chunking off!!
has this happened to anyone before?????
what do i do!!!
is he gng to die????

Sounds like he going to lose the eye, add salt to the tank and keep water quality in tip top condition, they can survive with one eye, also can you post test results in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what size tank and how many fish.

i will have to check the water tontie for ph and stuff.. so will get back with that tonite...
i feel so sorry for the poor thing.. i dont even know if he is in pain! he is swiming lopsided!!

do you think it will peel off and he will be ok with one eye?
can they swim straight with one eye???

Sounds as if your electric yellow may possibly have pop eye a bacterial infection that can cause the eyes to potrude. You probably would want to consider quarantining the fish and treating it with an antibotic such as tetracycline.

my danio lost both its eyes a couple weeks ago its still going strong though and its very smart it still finds food by feeling out the surface and still plays with other fish which is weired it moves around the middle of the tank and feels for a fish and tags it and run and then comes back for more...... He was my favorite when he could see because he would eat out my hand
