So I changed the water 100% as it was looking fairly cloudy and had a foul smell (I assume cause all the food she wouldn't eat was decompossing) I treated it with water conditioner, added same temp as was in there before, and she seemed happy for a couple days! Tonight while I was at my computer I heard the sound of gravel being moved around... she was swimming all over the place, darting, on her side, and alost came jumping out of the bowl! Soon enough she was laying on the bottom of her bowl lifeless. I don't understand?! She looked fine on the outside, I tested the pH shortly after (8.0) and Ammonia (0 to 0.1) and temp was around 23 C. Has this happened to anyone else before? Thanks alot. |

Acclimation is important, especially when you have a reading of 8.0 pH for the new water. --garyroland. |

It rots. It funguses. It stinks. And it's terrible for your fish. Also, 1.5 gallons is generally too small for 2 females, as they tend to be a tiny bit aggressive, and room to swim away and lots of hiding places (plants etc) alleviate the problem. I'm sorry to hear about your loss ![]() |
