I've also did a water change at the same time when i changed the filter(I think that was the bad idea). My fish was acting strange lately and i did a water test and found out my nitrites jumped from 0 to .8!!! Ammonia is still 0! The question is what should i do now? My angels are stoned now(they are not moving much, strating not to eat) the stock ![]() 4 danios 3 angels 6cories 1 bn 2 sae Any help is apeciated THX, Gee Gee !!I think I just learned somthing new!! |

You might be able to get by with one angel in a 25 for awhile, but you need to get the other 2 a bigger tank, or take them back soon.danios and angels arent really the best tank mates, it may work, but a school is 6 or more, and you only have 4, and the danios might be nipping playfully at the angels long fins- i see possible problems there, if not now, in the future. |

But for what u said my danios don't nip at my angels. The danios seem to be playing with themselves. In my meaning overstocking means that over bioload right(correct me if i'm wrong) I've been using a week filter b4 (aqua150) and it's been holding the bioload b4 so i don't understand about the overstocking. My tank has been up for almost a year now. I'm not trying to argue here. I am new to this hobby and love to know more abt it, so any "lectures" would be welcomed ![]() ![]() Thx, Gee Gee !!I think I just learned somthing new!! |

The salt helps with nitrite poisoning. I would use one teaspoon full for every 5 gallons. The nitrite will eventually even its self back out once the bacteria catch back up. You are alittle over stocked in my opinion. I recomend upgrading to a larger tank size in the near future. Atleast for the angels. These fish really can get huge. Six inches may not seam like alot, but when they get that big, and twice that tall then you will really be able to tell how much happier they would be in a bigger tank. I keep just my breeding pair in a 29 gallon. I know they could fit into a 20h easily but they are so comfortable in the 29. And i dont mind giving them the extra room. |

Garylord I have already dosed my water with the cycle u mentioned. I'm just waiting now.. Gee Gee !!I think I just learned somthing new!! |

As for the angels, yes, they will probably get to large in their own size for that tank, depending on the finage of them. As for angels getting 6 inches, yes maybe over all length, but when calculating for the bioload, you do not include fins and tails in your calculations. As there is no muscle there to produce waste products. You calculate size from the mouth tip, to the caudal peduncle, or ba There is always a bigger fish... |
