I know we are supposed to watch for stress in our fish, but how can you tell? My platies all act differently. One swims near the top (about an inch below the surface) and just hangs out there. But sometimes she will just hide on the bottom, or sometimes will wildly swim all over the tank. I only have the 3 platies and the 10 frys right now, while it is cycling. So its not fright of the other fish.

Thanks again.

Stress is displayed by different fish different ways...some may "lose" color or turn a slightly different color...active fish may become inactive..inactive fish may become active..fish that normally hang out near the top of the water are hiding under the driftwood...normally free flowing fins are clamped tight, held close to body.

You're supposed to watch your fish and enjoy them. When they are stressed and displaying characteristics that aren't normal for them, you will notice it.
