A quick question about ich...Are fading colours of fish associated with ich? One of my cories has a major spot of what appears to be ich that just popped up yesterday. His colours are also fading but everything else is fine.

fading colours are associated with general poor health, including specific diseases such as ich.

Ich itself is an indicator of stress? How old is your tank and what are the water perameters? Have you made any changes recently?

I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions

Well its just 1 or 2 cories that have faded colours. All my other fish have spectacular colours. Water parameters are fine.
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 15

ph 7.6
temp 26C

i havent made any changed but i think a window left opened may have dropped the temp in the tank.

After further inspection it appears to be more fungus like. I dont think its ich since ich usually spreads in a few days but it has been at least 4 days and no other fish are showing symptoms. Its more like a cottony white patch. Can i use melafix?

Melafix isnt' really the best (IME) for fungus, rather it works with or after treatment with a real medication to help in the healing process.

Look for maracyn and maracyn two for fungus. Other meds might be jungle labs fungus clear (one of their tank buddys medications).
