What is the best way to treat this? [span class="edited"][Edited by fishnewbie 2004-08-05 16:41][/span] |

It's always worked for me. Another good plan is to raise the temperature in the tank by a few degrees as it will speed up the life cycle of the parasite to rid the infection faster. Remember, just because the spots are gone it doesn't mean the parasite has been evicted. Continue to treat for a few days after the spots are gone to kill any spores in the water. You need to treat the whole tank as the parasite will lie dormant in the substrate and infect the other inhabitants even if you remove the sick danio. The best way to prevent ich is to keep the temperature warm enough in the tank so that your fish will have a higher immunity to it and also quarantine any new inhabitants that you get from the LFS. As trystianity said raising the temperature will speed up the life cycle, if the life cycle has speed up and you don't have meds in there you may just be helping them out ![]() The only time ich can be killed is after it's already fallen off the fish. Which is another reason why it's important to fully finish a round of meds, and not stop treatment early. ^_^ [span class="edited"][Edited by Babelfish 2004-08-06 11:29][/span] ![]() |
