I've got 4 guppies, a swordtail, and a dwarf gourami in my 30g tank. I bought two gouramis but one died. The one thats left became more active since the other died, maybe because both of them were males. But he never comes up to eat. He stays at the bottom and middle area. I got some algae in my tank and I've seen him nibble at it occasionally. I've had him for over a month so if he didn't eat he'd be dead.

He is not as active as the livebearers.
Are gouramis generally like this or is there something wrong with him? Could he have internal parasites?

The only way to find out is to offer different foods and see if he'll take any of them...

Gouramies sometimes get bored with the same old food and refuse to eat.

Try some frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms if available in Pakistan and by all means raise the tank temp to 78-80 degrees, 25-26c.

I only use blood worms, but I'll try something different.

The problem is that he's scared of me.

Gouramies are rather spooky...

But if he ate a little that's a good sign.
