I am unsure why one of my pim cats has an overly large abdomen (it is new to my new 55g tank - I have one other new one in the tank as well). It does not appear to have any health problems or disease symtoms yet it seems to have an abmormal bulge in it's belly. I have read that there have been no known breeding in captivity for this fish.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to fishprofiles.com

Do you have pics?

If it has no symptoms, then maybe it is stopped up. What do you feed it?

If this is a pictus cat, they'll often eat alot and get a very swollen belly...especially if they've snacked on other fish in the tank ....I'd suggest checking to see if anyones missing .

Can you give us a bit more info about the tank .

^_^

It is fed Omega One flake food, and yes it seems to to be quite a big eater. Hopefully it is just a little stopped up.

It is currently about 2-2.5 inches in size and was bought last week from a tank that strictly contained other pims and bala sharks.

I don't have any fish small enough that it would have eaten and nobody is missing

Thank you for your replies, I will keep my eye on it and cross my fingers that it's belly size reduces.
